Repulsor Jump: Unlike most wheeled vehicles the Mako is outfitted with repulsor jets. This allows the pilot to make the Mako jump, and slow descents from falls. It allows a jump maneuver where a Pilot check is made as a Jump check. The thrusters don’t allow actual flight but allows safe falls from as high up as 1 kilometer, but the thrusters can’t be fired again for 5 minutes. Jumping is per the Jump skill, the DC for the jump rolls is halved due to the thrusters.
The M35 Mako infantry fighting vehicle was designed for the System Alliance’s frigates. Though the interior is cramped, an M35 is small enough to be carried in the cargo bay and easily deployed on virtually any world.
With its turreted heavy laser cannon and coaxially-mounted repeating blaster cannon, the Mako can provide a fire team with weapon support as well as mobility. Since Alliance marines may be required to fight on any world, the Mako is environmentally-sealed and equipped with microthrusters for use on low-gravity planetoids (allowing it to fly up to its speed once every other round).
M44 Hammerhead

M44 hammerhead

Huge Ground Vehicle (airspeeder) CL 8

Missile launcher (pilot or gunner)
Atk +6, Dmg 6d6,2-square splash
Hoverjets: The Hammerhead is outfitted with hoverjets. This allows the pilot to make the Hammerhead hover in the air above normal hovering height, and slow descents from falls. It allows a jump maneuver where a Pilot check is made as a Jump check. The jets don’t allow actual flight but allows safe falls from as high up as 1 kilometer, but the thrusters can’t be fired again for 5 minutes. Jumping is per the Jump skill, the DC for the jump rolls is halved due to the thrusters.
Engine Boost: The Hammerhead can boost its speed for short periods of time, allowing it to go much faster than normal. Doing this, however, causes the hoverjets to overheat, as the boos requires their power; thus, the boost and hoverjets cannot be used at the same time. The boost can double the speed of the Hammerhead, but only for up to 5 rounds; the engines cannot handle a boost longer than that.
The M-44 Hammerhead is an infantry fighting vehicle that hovers over the battlefield at up to 120 kilometers an hour. It most likely follows a theme of naming armored vehicles after sharks, just like the M35 Mako. The Hammerhead’s main gun can only swivel vertically but compensates it with a guided missile system that ensures accuracy even during aggressive maneuvering. It can seat at least a crew of three. The Hammerhead incorporates an onboard VI system that monitors the environment for dangers and alerts the crew. An integrated mineral collection system allows the Hammerhead to retrieve any resources it finds during a mission. Like the Mako, it is able to be air-dropped from a frigate and is able to propel itself vertically to scale obstacles.

The Normandy is a prototype starship, developed by the human Systems Alliance with the assistance of the Citadel Council. It is optimized for scouting and reconnaissance missions in unstable regions, using state–of-the-art stealth technology and an enhanced sensor suite. Another component of the stealth system is the Normandy’s revolutionary Tantalus drive, a massive Sublight drive twice the standard size which stores and recycles drive emissions to provide a near-impossible to detect ship signature (The Normandy is considered to have concealment, and may attempt a Stealth check to sneak. Remember to apply the -5 penalty to notice a target that has concealment when making checks to notice a stealthed ship. Noticing the Normandy negates it’s concealment but you do not add a ships intelligence modifier to its attack roll when attacking the Normandy.)

The Cerberus-built Normandy SR-2 is a starship that appears in Mass Effect 2. The SR-2 is provided to Shepard’s team by Cerberus, and its leader, the Illusive Man, to assist in their mission to put an end to the Collectors’ galaxy-wide campaign of human abductions. This ship is the headquarters of the Lazarus Cell.
Its design is similar to the Systems Alliance’s SSV Normandy SR-1, the design being based on the original specifications. It differs from the original in that it is approximately twice its size, more human-centered in its design and, thanks to Cerberus’ considerable funding, features extra civilian-grade comforts for its passengers. The ship still retains the SSV Normandy SR-1’s stealth characteristics (see Sr-1 entry for game usage). Unlike the SR-1, the SR-2 cannot land on every planet—due to its increased mass—and thus shore parties must use a shuttle to get to the planet surface.
The SR-2 features a number of upgrades to the original, most influenced by its crew; among these are the Thanix Cannon, a Turian-designed, miniaturized version of the weapons used by the Reaper Sovereign, advanced multicore shielding using Cyclonic Barrier Technology, Asari-designed Silaris heavy ship armor, extended fuel cells, and advanced scanning technology. It is also partially operated by an experimental AI (“EDI”) created by Cerberus to help defend against electronic warfare attacks.

The Athabasca Class is a class of large freighter of human origin. Externally, this freighter class’s configuration may be mistaken for the smaller Kowloon Class freighters. However, the Athabasca Class freighter is a multi-level voluminous starship. The Athabasca Class freighter is lightly armored and lacks armaments, and can be attacked and boarded very quickly. This freighter class is equipped with a self-destruct device and a black box.
Unlike the smaller Kowloon Class freighters, the internal arrangement of Athabasca Class freighters differs from ship to ship. The freighter’s bridge is located on the upper level and is positioned forward of the engine core and cargo holds. This engine core is a two level room housing four reactors and an engineering console. Access to the ship’s interior is through airlocks and an emergency airlock located in the main cargo hold.

Kowloon-class vessels are basic freighter starships originally designed (and mostly used by) humans. Each ship is built on a standard design, likely for easy mass production. They generally carry a large cargo bay with smaller compartments for additional passenger haulage, but their design means these compartments can be swapped or exchanged to customize the ship. For example, the MSV Fedele exchanged passenger compartments for specialist biological research modules.
Kowloon-class ships are hardy but carry no armaments and only a standard engine core. Unfortunately this makes them easy prey for privateers or mercenary bands looking for a quick score. Most are given the prefix ‘MSV’, likely for ‘merchant space vehicle’.

The UT-47 Kodiak Drop Shuttle, is a personnel carrier capable of planetary flight and limited FTL travel. Nicknamed the “Combat Cockroach” by Alliance marines due to its durability and looks, the Kodiak drop shuttle is an interplanetary vehicle operated by a pilot and a co-pilot. It can carry up to 14 people, including the pilots, with a total of 12 in a cramped cargo space with full complement, as well as a VI. A true contragravitic vehicle, the Kodiak’s substantial element zero core allows flight by entirely countering the vehicle’s mass. Its small thrusters are for directional control only, so if the mass effect field fails, the vehicle becomes a proverbial “three-million-credit coffin”. The unarmed shuttle forgoes weaponry-space for active masking, electronic countermeasures, and a robust kinetic barrier system.

The Hensa-class cruiser is a Batarian vessel of the cruiser class. While most Batarian vessels tend to stay in Batarian space, there is at least one Hensa-class cruiser in the hands of the Quarian fleet, the Idenna; on that ship, the crew expands to include the entire passenger capacity. Cruisers are middle-weight combatants, faster than dreadnoughts, and more heavily-armed than frigates. Cruisers are the standard patrol unit, and often lead frigate flotillas.

Still to come: Possibly Everest- and Kilimanjaro-class dreadnoughts
